Degenerative retinal disease affects over 50 million people worldwide , accounting for ¼ of the world’s blind population . By 2020, the number is projected to soar to 196 million people . People who are born with sight are losing it to crippling diseases such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) . Treatments currently available to return sight are limited and rudimentary.

Hope in sight

Retinal implants designed to return partial sight to AMD or RP patients have reached the market. However, complex surgeries, cumbersome equipment and limited visual acuity still present barriers to autonomy for the blind. iBIONICS intends to change all this with its Diamond Eye .

Innovative technology in the making

The iBIONICS Diamond Eye intends to restore partial vision by enabling the blind to recognize the faces loved ones and read large print . The much-awaited cutting-edge invention combines avant-garde bionic implant technology developed in Australia, with state-of-the-art Canadian wireless solution. With the Diamond Eye, iBIONICS envisions to change the bio-medical landscape of vision correction, and visual aids. There will definitely be light!
